Alzheimer's and the brain
Inside the Brain: An Interactive Tour Learn how the brain works and how Alzheimer's affects it.
Just like the rest of our bodies, our brains change as we age. Most of us notice some slowed thinking and occasional problems remembering certain things. However, serious memory loss, confusion and other major changes in the way our minds work are not a normal part of aging. They may be a sign that brain cells are failing.
Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia, a general term for the loss of memory and other intellectual abilities serious enough to interfere with daily life. At America’s CareGivers we can help you manage the care of a loved one with Alzheimer’s Disease as many patients are able to safely stay in their own home for a period of time. Select America’s CareGivers aides have obtained formal dementia care training in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Association in how to provide in-home care for Alzheimer’s patients.
Services may include:
- Assisting with dressing and grooming
- Improving eating habits with healthy meal planning
- Aiding clients in communication
- Enhancing home safety
- Providing much needed respite care for family members who may be primary care providers for the Alzheimer’s patient.
